Glass in Isolation Sept 23-Oct1 2023

SALT COLLECTION

The Salt collection is inspired by on our extensive Salt Lake system. The work is made from reclaimed float glass. The artist has transformed into a usable course frit for fusing and slumping.

This is a process that requires patience and a commitment to using all the glass available to us.

I am pleased to be exhibiting again, with Glass Artists of WA

Crabs live here: Lurajarri Trail – Nada Murphy 2023

Mossenson Gallery August 2-26

Curiosity to discover more about our water stories, has led down many tracks in the steps of those who walked before me. Questions emerge not only about water but also how we respond to the land. My works ask for a renewed look at our landscape.

Join us to celebrate our many journeys together and to explore this new body of works.

This exhibition marks 50 years since my first Nullabor Crossing.

Opening Night August. 2 6 to 8 pm

Special guest: Bruce Denny Theatre Maker

Mossenson Galleries 115 Hay Street Subiaco.

A special collaboration with fellow Glass Artist Estelle Dean will run parallel.

The Exhibition runs from Aug 2 to 26.

Saturday 12.00 to 4.00 pm and by appointment

Looking forward to seeing you.

The Grandmother tree

Grandmother Tree after the fire by Nada Murphy

The Grandmother tree

Charcoal & Ink 69x88 Framed

My friends property is a place where the original vegetation has been kept with a wooded treasure trove along a creek line. At the top of the rise the tree sits and my friend then a mum of small children said the called it the Grandmother Tree as it was clearly the oldest tree on their block.

In 2022 a fire which started on the nearby property raged for several days up to the ridge. My friend home narrowly escaped the creek line was preserved but the grand mother tree burnt ..

Miraculously the grandmother tree has survived although for a good while we wondered . She has her own resurrection story.

The drawing is a tribute and perhaps appropriate for the Beverley Art Prize which has been running 54 years at Easter.

Echoes of the River – Mossenson Galleries

Looking out from the peak

16 March – 9 April

Mossenson Gallery

115 Hay Street Subiaco

The artist explores the source of our river at the place where it emerges from the ground to reveal its ancient origins and the intersect with indelible human imprint echoing across seasons and time.

The works reflect on our history with water and our river country, asking the viewer to consider how we are making our own history.

Is the river a vital resource which can keep us to account – a spiritual entity which carries ancient knowledge, or carry other meanings running through contemporary life?
